NZXT C1500 Platinum PSU Review

NZXT are adopting a Sunon MagLev fan – model MF£0251VX-1Q010-S99 fan inside this power supply. This is a 140mm fan rated 4.97W DC12. This is a ‘magnetic levitation fan' which is claimed to be superior to a fluid dynamic bearing fan with lower noise levels, higher dust resistance and a longer lifespan – NZXT claim 100,000 hours.

There is a small plastic cutout on the left side of the fan to help force airflow in a specific direction to the components underneath.

Looking into the fan a little deeper It is rated at a peak of 2,500 rpm with an airflow of 125CFM with maximum noise levels of 41dBa. Those are the official claims, anyway.

NZXT are using CWT as their OEM for this platform. It is a very clean design inside, and the soldering quality on the PCB is great. 105C Japanese capacitors are adopted throughout the design. On the primary side they are using 105C-rated Nippon Chemi Con capacitors rated 420V 820uF each, for a total of 2460uF.

This is a ‘digital' power supply which should mean precise voltage regulation, high levels of efficiency and low ripple noise, and no coil whine when compared against analog platforms.

The unit has OVP, UVP, SCP, OTP, OPP and OCP protections.
