AMD Vision A10-6790K APU Review

Black Ops 2 is the latest episode in the Call of Duty franchise and is one of the most popular games of the moment.  It uses an updated version of the IW engine, used in previous Call of Duty games, which isn't particularly demanding.  This makes it ideal for testing mid-range gaming systems like this.

We used the settings illustrated in the screenshot above for testing.

In this particular test, overclocking the A10-6790K didn't have much of an effect on performance.  However this game proved a little too much for the chip to handle anyway, with frequent drops to unplayable framerates.  Our Intel test system didn't agree with this game either and crashed every time we tried to load it up.

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition announced for all systems (including Switch 2)

Just under 10 years ago, Fallout 4 officially released to the world. While the game is far from perfect, it resonated with millions thanks to its sandbox-like design and focus on exploration among other ancillary additions (such as the settlement mechanic and base building). As they have done with many of their previous games, Bethesda has now officially announced Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition – bundling the base game alongside its DLC and hundreds of user-created mods.

  1. Great price for what you get. ideal for a media center, which I have been meaning to build all year, but never got around to it 🙁

  2. Wouldn’t an i3 have been a more appropriate comparison?

  3. Nice Finally somebody tested a richland APU with 2.1 ghz memory! Cudos to the review team. I personally use 2.4 memory and it’s even better like that – you should have used 2.4 memory for the oc… the gpu part in this is really memory starved and I’ve seen huge increases.

@Steve why is not appropriate to compare it to the i5 – it offers similar day2day performance even if it’s lagging in pure cpu the more then capable gpu makes up for it + its way cheaper 120$ for AMD vs 180$ Intel(newegg) and this chip would eat an i3 4340 for instance alive… even if intel is selling the i3 for 160$ – well I guess it’s not illegal to be dumb or a fan now is it…
