AMD promises more RX 6900/6800 reference cards to be available in Q1

Low supply of RX 6800 and RX 6900 GPUs has been an on-going problem, especially for those who want a reference design GPU at MSRP pricing. These graphics cards have been out of stock for a while now, but according to an AMD representative, more will be coming before the end of the quarter.

Riche Corpus, senior director at Radeon Technologies Group, stated that based on the response to the latest Radeon RX 6000 series reference graphics cards, AMD is “extending production to make them available to as many gamers as possible on AMD.com at SEP”. Moreover, Riche also stated during an interview with BabelTechReviews that AMD will continue to support its partners in the development of custom Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards.

These reference cards are expected to be discontinued eventually, but according to Scott Herkelman, AMD CVP and GM of Radeon, these cards will continue to be produced throughout early 2021. The company has probably already ceased shipping reference cards to custom board partners.

Initially, the reference cards' launch was supposed to be a one-off release, with the remaining manufactured GPUs being sent to AiB partners. However, due to the current situation of GPU pricing, the best way to get Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs at MSRP is through AMD's official webstore, which rarely has any stock left to buy.
