MSI GTX 1660 Gaming X 6G Review

Here we present the average clock speed for each graphics card while running the 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra stress test 20 times. We use GPU-Z to record the GPU core frequency during the Fire Strike Ultra runs. We calculate the average core frequency during the entire 20-run test to present here.

This MSI GTX 1660 Gaming X has a rated boost clock of 1860MHz. The card actually exceeds this by over 100MHz when in operation, with an average operating frequency of 1965MHz right out of the box. I have to say this is very impressive – the GPU is almost at 2GHz with not a hint of a manual overclock. Whether or not this will limit the card's headroom when we get to manual overclocking, however, we will have to see later on in the review.
