WhatsApp will soon let you ‘unsend’ messages

It looks like WhatsApp wants to give a second chance to all of the drunk texters out there as a new ‘unsend' feature is in the works. The messaging app is currently testing a way to recall messages, removing them from the chat.

This is all according to some screenshots obtained by WABetaInfo, a Twitter account dedicated to WhatsApp changelogs and news from the app's beta branch. You can see the tweet and screenshots below:

The feature will apparently let users edit or completely remove messages within the first five minutes of them being sent. The feature is currently disabled but it should arrive in the next iOS update for the app.

KitGuru Says: Being able to edit messages is always a useful feature, especially when autocorrect kicks in on iOS. How many of you use WhatsApp regularly? Do you think this new feature will come in handy?

  1. I just correct if autocorrect screws up. You know, like I do in face-to-face communication when my brain misfires in whatever way.

It may be a useful feature, but I have never been in a situation where I though God if only I could unsend that message. (also, if I’m texting drunk, I’ll still be drunk in 5min, so that’s not particularly helpful.)
