The EU is still open to the idea of breaking up Google

It looks like the European Union is concerned about Google once again. This time around, the EU's competition commissioner, Margrethe Vestager, voiced “grave suspicions” over Google's growing dominance online.

Previously, the EU has fined Google £2.1 billion for prioritising Google Shopping in search results over competing services. Now, the competition commission is mulling over the idea of forcing Google to split up into smaller companies, according to a report from The Telegraph.

The European Union is also working on new rules for Google, which will regulate the company's commercial practices with smaller businesses that rely on its services.

Last year after the Google Shopping ruling against the company, the EU warned that more cases may be brought up in the future. From the sounds of it, next time around things could be a bit more severe than a fine.
