The 2nd of April marked one of the most important dates the video games industry has seen in quite some time, owing to the big unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 – showing us everything from the hardware, games and even the system’s release date. Unfortunately, much of what has been revealed so far shows Nintendo is squandering the good will it built up during the Switch 1 generation. 

While Nintendo has not fully detailed the hardware inside of the Switch 2, we are finally starting to get details on the chip powering the system. According to Digital Foundry, the Switch 2 utilises a custom Nvidia T329 processor, which means it uses graphics technology similar to what we can find in RTX 30 series GPUs.

While the Nintendo Switch was an undeniable success, one of the handheld’s core issues was in its Joy-Cons. Suffering quite easily from Joy-Con drift, the Switch 1 was on the receiving end of a ton of lawsuits. Hopefully though, when it comes to Switch 2 this shouldn’t be a concern as Nintendo claims to have fixed the issue...

Nintendo announced months ago that the Switch 2 would be backwards compatible with Switch 1 titles, bar a few limited exceptions. However, it turns out Switch 1 titles aren't running natively on Switch 2 and are instead relying on emulation.

During today's Nintendo Direct, the gaming giant confirmed its launch plans for the Switch 2. The new console is launching in June, proving the accuracy of a retail leak from earlier this week.

Following an explosive and highly popular first series, HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 is almost upon us. Set to premiere on the 13th of April, the sequel season based on Naughty Dog’s controversial Part II is likely to spark up even more discourse than the first. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a massively important game for Ubisoft, with the publisher suffering from a long string of commercial disappointments and the fear of being absorbed into competing companies. Fortunately, for now Shadows seems to be doing what was needed – with the game having already surpassed 3 million players.

After a ton of waiting and many delays, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally here. While Ubisoft’s latest AC title may not be able to singlehandedly dig the publisher out of the hole it’s found itself in, initial response to the game appears solid, with the title having surpassed 1 million players in just a couple hours.

Ubisoft is betting a lot on Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Thanks to a number of less-than-stellar releases, controversies and the like, the publisher has been on the verge of being sold off for quite some time. Hot on the heels of the successful launch of Portal RTX, Nvidia announced plans for an RTX reimagining of Half-Life 2. The mod, known as Half-Life 2 RTX, has been in development for years but we'll finally have the opportunity to play it for ourselves later this month. 

Avowed marks the biggest first-party Xbox game for 2025 so far, with the Obsidian Entertainment-developed RPG arriving on Microsoft’s console (and PC) just under a month ago. Being Microsoft, the company rarely shares sales figures for its games. That being said, according to the game’s director, the higher-ups at Xbox are “happy” with Avowed’s player numbers.

With both Nvidia and AMD having launched new-generation graphics cards this year, it is now time to take a look at the state of the market. Nvidia's RTX 50 series GPUs have been available since the end of January and as of last week, the AMD RX 9070 series GPUs are also available. Early stats indicate that AMD is currently outselling by volume.

Dino Crisis is a beloved series from Capcom which has unfortunately seen little to no activity in decades. Following surveys conducted by the publisher asking whether they’d be interested in more Dino Crisis, Capcom has now registered a trademark for the game franchise in Japan.
