At this point, Rockstar has been forced to acknowledge the existence of Grand Theft Auto 6 following a series of leaks that showed alpha gameplay. We still don't have a release date for the game yet, but the latest investor update from Rockstar parent company, Take-Two, gives us a pretty good hint that the game will be released in 2024. 

The Microsoft-ABK acquisition has turned into a political circus here in the UK and Microsoft is making sure to throw its weight around, going as far as to hint at the possibility of pulling products out of the UK and investing elsewhere.

AMD and Nvidia may soon compete against each other in a new market segment. Recently, AMD collaborated with Samsung to bring RDNA GPU technology to Samsung's mobile SoCs. Now, it is being reported that Nvidia is developing a mobile GPU architecture for future Mediatek SoCs. 

Steam has always been one of the most consumer-friendly platforms in gaming, with a relatively generous refund policy put in place for all potential purchases. That said, it seems as though Valve is testing out a new feature: free timed-trials for full releases. This can be seen with 2023’s Dead Space Remake – letting you now play the game for an hour and a half for free.

Last week, it was reported that the European Commission would announce its decision on Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard this week. As it turns out, that report was indeed accurate, with the commission publishing its press release today, approving the deal.

The company is beginning to find itself in a string of controversies, with YouTubers like Jayz Two Cents and Gamers Nexus calling the company out over unsavoury practices. Unfortunately, there are signs of wider problems at the company too, including a seemingly hostile attitude towards independent media. 

The reboot of Modern Warfare back in 2019 was met with a great deal of praise, due to the game running on a highly updated engine and offering a solid campaign. Last year’s Modern Warfare II saw a drop in its critical reception for various reasons. Though it was previously announced that there would be no new COD game this year – instead being replaced by an expansion – this is no longer the case, with Call of Duty Modern Warfare III set to be officially announced later this year.

It has been a few weeks since Asus first teased the ROG Ally handheld gaming system and now, the company is ready to share more in-depth details. Today, Asus is officially launching the ROG Ally, with prices starting at £££ and the first units set to ship out in June. 

We'll have another opportunity to play Diablo 4 ahead of release during the upcoming 'Server Slam' weekend, designed to stress test the game's servers ahead of launch. Interestingly, the Server Slam beta version of Diablo 4 will have a number of launch-day features, including DLSS 3 support. 

With newer games requiring larger amounts of memory to run at higher graphics settings, there has been concern around continued 8GB GPU launches. With the RTX 4060 series coming up, rumours have pointed to an 8GB model, but according to new rumours Nvidia might also be cooking up a 16GB version of the RTX 4060 Ti.

AMD has officially announced the Ryzen "Phoenix" 7040U series. Designed for low-power mobile devices such as lightweight laptops and handheld gaming consoles, these APUs will feature up to eight Zen 4 CPU cores and RDNA 3 iGPUs with up to 12 CUs.

Last week, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched in pretty rough shape across all platforms but so far, most coverage has focused on the PC version. Even Respawn's public apology only addresses PC performance, completely ignoring the fact that the console version is broken too.

So far, the only thing Asus has officially revealed about the ROG Ally's price point is that it will be under $1000. An official announcement is due in May, but a leaker claims to already know the price for the Z1 Extreme version. 

While Microsoft was able to convince the UK's Competition & Markets Authority that its acquisition of Activision Blizzard would not harm the console gaming market, it would seem the CMA was not convinced that the deal wouldn't impede competition in the cloud gaming market. 

We've been hearing about the Ryzen Z1 series processors through leaks recently. Today, AMD is making it official, announcing the new Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme processors for a new generation of handheld gaming PCs.

A few weeks ago we reported that the actor playing Venom in the upcoming Spider-Man 2 game by Insomniac claimed that the much-anticipated title would be arriving this September. Following this, an industry insider has corroborated the claims, stating that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will indeed be launching in September.

While Xbox has spent a great deal of time pushing its cloud gaming services (thanks in no small part to Microsoft’s ownership of the Azure cloud computing service), Sony has focused much more on local gaming solutions. This seems to be shifting somewhat with a number of new job listings – alongside recent rumours – suggesting that Sony is going all-in on cloud gaming.

While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is traditionally a single-player game, fans have often wished for some form of co-op or multiplayer. The Skyrim Together mod was the most successful attempt at delivering on this, but it would seem that Bethesda might be looking to implement multiplayer elements in a more official capacity with The Elder Scrolls VI. 

Persona 3 Portable rolled out for modern platforms earlier this year but ATLUS may have something even bigger planned. Earlier this year, it was claimed that a full remake of Persona 3 is in the works and now, we've got our first glimpse at it.

Bethesda is unlikely to get around to Fallout 5 until the end of this decade, as the company plans to tackle The Elder Scrolls 6 before making a new Fallout game. This has left fans asking for Obsidian to step in and make a new spin-off similar to Fallout New Vegas. We've heard that Obsidian would be interested and curiously enough, references to New Vegas 2 have now been found on SteamDB. 

Intel has started to discontinue the first few 11th Gen Core "Tiger Lake" processors. The process began on April 3rd, 2023, and will run until January 26th, 2024, when Intel will ship the last batch of these CPUs to customers.

Earlier this week, rumours claimed that Sony was creating new PlayStation hardware, separate from the upcoming PS5 revision and rumoured PS5 Pro. It was quickly theorised that this could be a new handheld, like a PS Vita 2. Now, sources have clarified that Sony is working on a dedicated Remote Play device, rather than a native-gaming handheld.
